Lakme Fashion Week

Three days of fashion in Lakme Fashion Week 2006 and two wardrobe malfunctions. First it was Carol Gracias who lost her top ( halter neck ) and the very nex day it was Ex-Miss India Gauhar Khan who found her skirt torn while she was on ramp. All seems to be well scripted. Its quite strange that models found themselves in an embarressing situation in consecutive days. Its seems its a stunt to get attention.

Its hard to believe that the same incident can happen twice in a fashion week. Various models have expressed thier views and called it as just an accident. Although these are the first incident of its kind that happened on Indian ramp. Carol topless video clip is already on net.

A successful publicity stunt.

Media Points ..

Its quite astonishing to see media has entered into our lives specially the TV media. The number of TV news channels have increased the number of entertainment channels. Every channel is getting hot with thier "Sting Operations" and sensationalising the the actual agendas. TRPs are increasing, viewers are looking for masala news. Media is entering into our bedrooms, businesses, relationships etc. Is this intrusion good for the public? Are they trying to help the cause ? To some extent "Yes" !! But somewhere they have lost thier way. When they over sensationalize .. it looks and sounds irritating. How quickly they make or break the stars. A cricket player is having a string of bad games .. he is criticized and virtually thrown out of the team. Next game the same player scores a centuary and the lost glory os redeemed. Do they really analyse or just want to beat the drums ?

The media is someway changing our mindsets.. they way we look at the things. We had a MMS scandel in Delhi last year. It was sensationalised on all TV news channels. Now we have numerous MMS scandal coming up everyday. It may have triggered many notoroius people to make it as a medium of easy money. Every cellphone sold is loaded with a additional feature exclusively provided by the seller. Your favourite MMS free with this cellphone. Young teenagers are buying filthy MMS clips by just paying a few bucks. They see it and they fantasize with them. Somewhere we are spoiling the young brains. Do these news channels really need to scandalize and sensationalize all these issues? Can they be genuine with thier programs ? Can we expect the actual matters highlighted and forgetting the TRPs ( atleast ocassionally ).

Great Wall Of India

Rahul Dravid - Great Wall Of India :

Rahul will wear the test cap 100th time today as India take on England 3rd and final test match in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Rahul, also known as Mr. Dependable, is one of most steady and consitent batsmen for India from last few years now. He was formely made captain late last year. Rahul along with coach Greg Chappell has lead India. The perfomance of India has gradually improved with every series. Indian public is expecting atleast a hunderd in each innings this time. India hold a good test record in Wankhede Stadium. Indians will be the favourites to win this test and further clinch the series 2-0. But all eyes will be on Rahul Dravid as he moves into his 100th test. Best of luck Rahul !!

Rainy Holi

Tomorrow is Holi and its raining here in the north. Holi, the festival of colors arrives in the month of march , which also triggers the onset of summers. But this time rains have almost changed the mood all around. The fun will be missing. But the farmers in punjab are the most affected here. The crop is getting spoiled. The cutting of crop was due in mid April. All thier hardwork and efforts seems to have washed away with the rain. Farmers have to pay thier loans when get thier returns from the harvested crop. No one was expecting the rains at this time of march.

Well tomorrow is an off day on account of holi and I plan to rent the CD of new released flick - Maalamal Weekly. A comedy movie starring Paresh Rawal , Om Puri and Ritesh Deshmukh is main lead. I have heard good reviews about the movie. I hope to enjoy it in this rainy holiday.

Bush And Protests In India

Yesterday, Bush left India. His visit to India was hugely criticised in India by general public. Political parties always try use such happening in the country. Lucknow saw riots in sensitive areas of the city. Police failed to control the miscreants. Who is benefited from these activities ?? I don't feel that we have to be against somebody merely visiting you country. Yes the government has certainly hurt the sentiments by allowing US sniffer dogs to check the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi. If Mr. Bush had security concerns, he should opted out of his visit to samadhi. Government is answerable to the country by allowing such incident to happen. Its a shame for the country.

England Tail Shows Mettle

On second day of Nagpur test, England moved on from 246/7 to 393 all out. Thanks to Collingwood centuary and some crucial partnership with lower order batsmen. Collingwood was not out on 134. India really lost the initiative bowling out England in less then 300 runs. Sreesanth took 4 wickets in first inning. Indian spin duo failed to live upto the expectations. In response to England's total, India lost Sehwag early. Sehwag made just 2 runs. Dravid and Jafer played cautiously. I think the test match is evenly poised now.

Bush In India

Bush arrived in India today. There is mixed response in India as Mr. Bush is in India. Left parties have strongly opposed Bush's visit. People burnt effigies of Bush and were holding placard of "Bush Go Back". India and US are expected to sign nuclear deal during the Bush 3 day visit.

Meanwhile India claimed 7 english wickets as first cricket test match started in Nagpur. England were 246/7 at stumps. I think India should included Piyush Chawla in playing. Sreesanth claimed 3 wickets on his first day of debut. Everybody is anticipating India's victory. Let how India plays in remaining 4 days. First day definately belongs to India.

Yesterday, Mr. P Chidambaram announced budget. He announced tax on ATM operations which was striking for me. I think I will be using more of plastic money. He made Idli/Dosa mixes cheaper so are cold drinks. Now more of coca cola's and pepsi's in the refridgerator. My favourite ice creams are also cheaper. I was planning to buy a new car. Although I am not sure the cars I have shortlisted will be cheaper. All small car duties has been reduced from 24% to 16%. Prices have fallen from Rs.12000 to Rs.25000. Fixed deposits in banks with 5years plus duration will fall under 80C exemptions. Not much of interest in this years budget for me.
